-Introduced officers
-$10 dues for the year are to be turned in to Treasurer Lindsey.
-Discussion of activities done last year (parasitology workshop, volunteer work, toured vet clinics, St. Louis Zoo trip, fundraisers)
-Discussion about what we hope to accomplish this year: more hands on workshops, more volunteer opportunities, more preparation for vet shcool or whatever career path you are choosing to take. If anyone has any other ideas, you can let us know.
-Update about last year's Wrist Bracelet Fundraiser: Last year sold orange wrist bands that said "Keep your paws off" to raise awareness for Animal Abuse in the month of April. The fundraiser was a huge success- spent $285 on it and brought in over $700. The original plan was to donate 20% of all proceeds (would be $139) but we could easily give more. The current total for the club is $483.31.
-Club voted on what percentage of fundraiser proceeds to donate, and decided on 45% ($327.25 donated; $114.98 club profit).
-Our Pre-Vet Club faculty advisor, Dr. Mueller, is taking pre-vet members to the Veterinary Workshop at Mizzou on Saturday, October 12th. The cost to go is $5 (for pizza), and your money needs to be turned in to Dr. Mueller by September 30th. If after the 30th you can no longer go to the workshop, Dr. Mueller will refund your $5.
-The club decided to have a bonfire at our Treasurer Lindsey's house for bonding. Watch your e-mail, the pre-vet site, twitter and Facebook for time and date.
-For our club t-shirts this year we will be having a competition. Club members will turn in designs, and the most voted on design will be our t-shirts. The person who designs the winning t-shirt gets their t-shirt free. Along with the designs you should have two options for t-shirt color and writing that can be voted on. Designs should be turned in by the next meeting on October 16th.
-President Lauren addressed the guidelines of the Activities Committee. There are 5 seats, and you can sign up once you have paid your $10 dues.
-To get to know our members, each person in the room stated their name, year, major, and a funny fact about themselves.
-At the end of the meeting the club website (preveterinaryclub.weebly.com) was introduced.
-Our next meeting will be October 16th.
