Our Vice President, Cody, was acting President for today's meeting because Alex was unable to attend today. The meeting began with the Treasurer report from Christine. She announced our current bank balance.
Following the Treasurer report, I gave the Secretary report, reminding everyone that if they are still interested in the Pearls of Production program Dr. Weathers told us about last meeting they should contact Dr. Weathers.
Dr. Mueller then spoke to the club about the Mizzou Workshop this weekend. He took last minute sign ups at the meeting.
Once Dr. Mueller finished addressing the club, Christine collected the dues and t-shirt money/orders from all club members.
After dues were collected, Cody presented a few activity ideas to the club. Multiple members showed interest in having a mock interview event to prepare for vet school interviews. We will discuss more details about this at our next meeting. Cody also pitched the idea of a bake sale, but that will be an event for later in the semester.
The club also showed interest in going to the Lazy L Safari this month, and a vote was taken for what day the trip would be taken. The majority agreed that we would go on Saturday, October 25th. I will send an email to every member with more details closer to the 25th.
To conclude our meeting, member Katie Beckman kindly volunteered to open up her VMCAS application that she recently sent in to a few vet schools. She showed the club how the application process worked, what should be included, and tips for preparing to apply. She also typed up a handout with her helpful tips. If you did not receive a copy of the handout, but would like to see it, Katie has posted it on our club's Facebook page (Southeast Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club).
Our next meeting will be held November 19th at noon in Magill Hall room 108. See you there!
